Kieran A Boyle - Research Associate
Kieran joined the Hughes Laboratory as a post-doctoral research assistant in 2012. He is a graduate of the University of Glasgow
(MSci with honours in Neuroscience) and completed his PhD at
UCL under the supervision of Prof Patricia Salinas. He is an electrophysiologist by-trade and is also an accomplished neuroanatomist. Kieran is a key member of the group and works
on a project funded by a Wellcome Trust Discovery Award.
Eva Kokai - Research Assistant
Eva joined the Hughes Laboratory as a post-doctoral research assistant in 2023. She is a graduate of the University of Debrecen (Hungary) and worked as a Research Fellow at the University of
Porto (Portugal) before joining the Spinal Cord Group. Eva works
on a project funded by the BBSRC.

Sarah Campbell - Research Technician
Sarah joined the Hughes Laboratory as a research technician
in 2023. She is a graduate of the University of Glasgow with a
degree in Genetics and then worked as a Laboratory Scientist at
the Lighthouse (NHS Scotland).
Olivia Davis
Olivia joined the Hughes laboratory in 2017 as a PhD student on a project co-supervised by Prof Andrew Todd. She is a graduate of the University of Nottingham (BSc with honours in Neuroscience) and completed her MSc at the University of Edinburgh under the supervision Carole Torsney.
Olivia completed her studies and defended her thesis in 2021.
Christine Watt
Christine has worked as a research technician in the Hughes Laboratory since 2012. She has expertise in histological processing of tissue for confocal and transmission electron microscopy, immunocytochemistry, genotyping, and general laboratory management. Christine retired in 2019.
Marami Binti Mustapa
Marami joined the Hughes laboratory in 2014 as a PhD student on a project co-supervised with Prof Andrew Todd. Marami is a qualified medic, having trained at the University of Malaya, Malaysia. She is a skilled neuroanatomist, with experience in confocal and transmission electron microscopy.
Marami completed her studies and defended her thesis in 2019.
